Sifu Overview
Sifu is martial arts action adventure with deep combat system. Young kung fu student on the path of revenge. His family is dead and the main character wants revenge on the people who killed his family. He has absolutely no allies, just one bone ornament making his journey easier. You fight your way around city sectors to shoot lowly gangsters on the street, as well as the strong corporations.
Sifu’s narrative unfolds over a single day. You are given a complex combat system with mechanics that encourage you to utilize the environment to your advantage. You must also be able to adapt to each fight and context. You are able to pick up different items and weapons after defeating enemies. Survival is a lot about positioning. The protagonist can throw knives, use makeshift weaponry, smash the heads of bandits into windows and more.
However new skills and abilities are unlocked when defeating your opponents, letting you become a master of Master Pak Mei’s forbidden techniques. Again, 150 freely unlockable. You can also perform combos with a whole array of strikes. Deflect enemy attacks, evade strikes and parry blows. That taps into the rest when it comes to the actual combat, as a successful parry can wreak absolute havoc on your foes. You can even throw enemies off ledges and heights.
You can pick responses in story dialogues. Others may result in the conflict being settled without a fight. A unique mechanic is that of the protagonist dying. Later on, the protagonist dies only to be reborn from a checkpoint, but at the cost of several years of aging. Once players complete each of those stages, they unlock a special detective board that allows them to read about her world or the characters in it.
